3 private sessions to assess your posture, movement, needs and goals.  You will be introduced to the fundamentals of Pilates' work, as well as to the various pieces of apparatus he invented.  Participants must have at least 3 private lessons before taking a Mat, Reformer or equipment class.  However, many people will need more than 3 private sessions to be fully ready for a group class.

Discovery/Movement Assessment

For individuals with previous Pilates Mat and Equipment experience.  The movement assessment will be used to evaluate your skill level as well as give you tools to improve your movement experience.

The program starts with a fitness assessment, strength, flexibility and balance tests.  Three hours of private training follow to familiarize you with Pilates principles, the exercises and how to use the various equipment.

The options for training 3 times per week include a combination of the following:  private lessons, Pilates group equipment and mat classes or yoga.

Pick and choose the 3 times that work best for YOUR schedule.  It's never too late!

If you want the best results and the quickest learning, private sessions are the way to start. This is also the safest way to start if you are concerned about injuries or have specific issues with your back, neck or shoulders.

Customization is the big plus of private Pilates sessions.  Work one-on-one with Deb to tailor your workout based on your individual goals, needs and abilities.

The Reformer is the main piece of equipment in the Pilates Method.  This full-body workout will leave you stretched and strengthened.  Classes are guided by the instructor, while you take charge of the equipment.  Reformer classes are sometimes combined with Mat work or other equipment.

The Low Chair is a multi-purpose piece of Pilates equipment.  You can sit, kneel, lie, or stand on, in front of, behind, facing forward, facing backward or sideways! Great for rehab as well as the most advanced students.

A series of exercises done in a group - on a mat.   The classes are progressive and build skills and teach new exercises with each level. 

Pre-Requisite Required:  The Special Introductory Package or Discovery/Movement Assessment is a prerequisite for all levels of Pilates classes.  Some individuals will require more instruction before attending a group class.

Pilates is not recommended in a group format for participants with injuries or requiring specific rehabilitation unless the class is a specialty class.

This non-purist class is designed for the mainstream fitness participant.  Focus on strength, conditioning and flexibility.  For all levels. Please bring a mat.

Sessions are payable in advance and must be used within a designated period of time from date of purchase.

Other props used in classes include Magic Circles, Stability Balls, Foam Rollers, Therabands, etc.

Specialty Classes

Individuals with chronic, occasional or historical back limitations, osteoporosis, spondylolisthesis, arthritis, fibromyalgia or limited mobility are welcome as well as beginners and anyone who wants to work towards a higher level of core awareness and increased core strength. 

Mat 1
Build on the Pilates fundamentals and learn the basic 10 Pilates mat exercises.

Mat 2
Further muscular strengthening and toning and improved coordination with addition of more complex exercises.

Mat 3

Only for those in good health and able to complete the Intermediate mat work.

Just for Men

Pilates was created for the German Military!  Pilates is for men who want to move freely and feel better.  Bonus - it will help your sport.

Pilates for Kids and Teens

Joseph Pilates believed children should be given knowledge of the body and that the information should be simple and accessible.  This is a fun class for ages 7-12.  Parent/Child Reformer and Private lessons on the equipment are also available.

Prenatal Pilates
Incorporate Pilates exercises into your pregnancy. Trimester modifications are demonstrated with precautions for a safe workout. (A medical screening form must be brought to class-please call The Pilates Advantage to obtain one.)

Postnatal Pilates
This workout will target and strengthen specific core muscle groups as well as relax and energize new mothers. Please bring your baby! (A postpartum checkup by your physician is required)


Pilates for Golfers
Strengthen the core, increase flexibility, build stability in the pelvis and shoulder girdle, balance both sides of the body, which will allow you to hit farther, straighter and more accurately.

Pilates for Equestrians

Riders do not need six-pack abs, buns of steel or huge arms, they need strength, flexibility and balance to perform activities on and off horseback without strain, without risk of injury and without the need to compromise body positions.

Vinyasa Yoga

Best known for the series of postures practiced in unison with a flowing breath and mental focus. This class will focus on smooth, Vinyasa, flow style yoga.  Please bring a mat.

Yoga Fitness

This non-purist class is designed for the mainstream fitness participant.  Focus on strength, conditioning and flexibility.  For all levels. Please bring a mat.

Body Rolling

Using small balls and foam rollers, reeducate your muscles, stimulate bone and create positive, permanent changes in your body.

STRETCHING

Prana Stretch

This class is designed to help you breathe, meditate and stretch.  1 or 2 instructors guide you through a series of stretches and assist you deeper into the stretch with hands'-on assistance and massage.  Class size is limited to 4 with 1 instructor, 8 with 2 instructors.

MASSAGE
